Bullet Club Fires Blanks

At NJPW’s King Of Pro-Wrestling show the Bullet Club comprised of Bad Luck Fale, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderosn, Tama Tonga, The Young Bucks, Yujiro Takahashi and AJ Styles were all set to wrestle. Some in tag matches and others defending their titles.

AJ Styles defended his IWGP Heavyweight Championship and Takahashi as well defended his NEVER Openweight Championship. Setting up small chance that some how the Bullet Club would lose it’s two top single titles.

While The Young Bucks challenged the Time Splitters, the team of Alex Shelley and Kushida for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. However it was a three way match for the titles as Forever Hooligans of Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero were also involved. But sadly the hottest tag team in the business today just couldn’t pull off the victory and failed to win.

As for Bad Luck Fale, Doc Dallows, Karl Anderson and Tama Tonga they were set to face off against Kota Ibushi, Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma, Yuji Nagata in a eight man tag match. Yes, that’s former WCW superstar Yuji Nagata. And well, his WCW fame was just too much for the Bullet Club members as they lost the opening match of the night.

This just left the two champions left to over come victory and well, we previously reported at AJ Styles lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championshp to Hiroshi Tanahashi. So this ultimately just left Takahashi and his NEVER Openweight Championship match against Tomohiro Ishii.

Ishii, who was described as Dave Meltzer as the “probably [one of the] most underrated guys in the business.” Ishii was looking to recapture the title for the second time and after  a nearly 18 minute match he was successful. Thus sending another Bullet Club member to lose.

As it would finally end the Bullet Club had a total of 4 matches at King Of Pro-Wrestling and ended up losing each and every one of them. Going 0 and 4. What does this mean for the Bullet Club? Will they blame each other or will they blame the returning Jeff Jarrett?

Former WWE Superstar Returns To NJPW

At King of Pro-Wrestling, Naofumi Yamamoto returned to New Japan, attacking Jeff Jarrett when he interfered in the main event match and, in doing so, helped Hiroshi Tanahashi defeat AJ Styles for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Yamamoto is best known to American wrestling fans as being Yoshi Tatsu. Where he performed for WWE’s shows from 2007 till his release on June 12th.

What will Yamamoto’s return to New Japan bring? Will he feud with AJ Styles and the Bullet Club?

Hiroshi Gets His Seventh

At King Of Pro Wrestling the main event featured AJ Styles versus Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Styles who captured the title May 3rd, 2014 after defeating Kazuchika Okada placed the title on the line for his 3rd official title defense.

Tanahashi who after defeated Katsuyori Shibata at Destruction In Kobe claimed he will be setting his sights back on the title is looking for his 7th reign. His wish was granted at King Of Pro Wrestling as AJ Styles put the title on the line. As Jeff Jarrett accomplished the former TNA superstar and current member of the Bullet Club.

Tanahashi and Styles previously faced off in Ryōgoku Kokugikan on February 17, 2008, and more recently met in a special non-tournament singles match during the final day of the 2014 G1 Climax. Tanahashi won the match, but was afterwards attacked by Bullet Club’s newest member, Jeff Jarrett.

Towards the end of the match, as Jarrett went to interfere in the match, Naofumi Yamamoto, widely known as Yoshi Tatsu, made his return to NJPW after a stint in WWE and stopped his attempt. This was followed by Tanahashi hitting Styles with the High Fly Flow, aka a frog splash, to win the match and become the IWGP Heavyweight Champion for the record-breaking seventh time
